about

When Faroese/Canadian Lena Anderssen in March 2018 went to Los Angeles to record her upcoming album with the four-time Grammy Award Winner and legendary Beatles chief engineer, Geoff Emerick, she had a bulk of songs ready that included “To Be With You Again”. But it was
decided that the song perhaps wouldn’t fit with the rest of the album and so never made it across the Atlantic. But “To Be With You Again” kept lingering in Lena’s head and the song’s relevance made it hard
for her to just let it go. So during the summer she took one week out of her calendar and decided to record the song with her partner in crime, producer Niclas Johannesen.

“To Be With You Again” means a lot to me. It’s kind of a bittersweet reflection of life and the fundamental longing you harbour. That familiar ache that visits you from time to time and makes you want to go back to that certain place or person or moment. The long gone road that you
never quite see the true value of until it is precisely that – gone. On Lena’s new single she’s deliberately gone after a pure acoustic sound that is both intimate and big at the same time. She wanted her personal singer-songwriter approach with piano, acoustic guitar and harmonica to merge with the classical, symphonic and heavier sound of a 32-piece string orchestra. “There are 36 musicians playing on this song. I wanted the heaviness of the lyrics to be reflected in the music.”
